Design Methods
People need to be involved in the design of new technology. We used a set of techniques called, 'Participatory Design'.
Villagers helped us understand their needs; gave us feedback on prototypes of the system; and participated in trials of the StoryBank.
Features of our methods:
- Hire of a local full-time ethnographer
- Worked with the village's community centre and NGO
- Key community members facilitated the villagers involvement
- Villagers involved via interviews, focus-groups and design sessions
- Used sketches and paper-prototypes before building any hardware/software
