Synopsis: Since 1985, students and staff of the Computer Science Department attend an annual 2-3 day Undergraduate Computer Science Colloquium at Gregynog, the Conference Center near Newtown, Powys. The aim of the colloquium is to provide:

  • An overview of Computer Science, its research and applications, its history and future developments
  • An opportunity for every student to give a presentation about their project
  • An open discussion between staff and students on education in Computer Science
  • A reflection on career prospects for Computer Science students
  • Informal conversation between staff and students
Syllabus: The colloquium consists of:
  • Presentations by all students of their project work
  • Invited speakers from both academia and industry on various aspects of Computer Science, including research, commercial, and industrial topics
  • A review and discussion of the current state and future development of Computer Science education at Swansea
  • An extreme student-staff sporting event, e.g., football
